At Socal Electronics, we believe progress is built on strong foundations. Greg Martin, our founder, carries forward the innovation and expertise he gained while working alongside Ricky Martin, the pioneer behind Intertron Industries. Milestones:
1962:
Ricky Martin begins his career in resistance welding at Alloy Spot Welders in Santa Monica and invents the fundamental principles of digital heat control.
1960s–1970s:
The “Alloy Control” revolutionizes aerospace manufacturing as the first compact three-phase resistance weld control.
1977:
Ricky Martin founds Interlock Industries (later Intertron Industries) and releases the Model 301 Weld Controller, the first multiplexed multi-schedule controller in the industry.
1980s:
The Model 101–108 single-phase controllers debut, introducing advanced features such as AVC, Constant Profile Current, and Electronic Pressure Regulation used worldwide.
2000s–2020s:
Intertron Industries earns global recognition for reliability, with a field reject rate under 0.5% and lifetime product support.
2025:
Greg Martin establishes SoCal Electronics, advancing Ricky Martin’s legacy into the future of resistance weld control technology.
